Gender Equality by Mahra Al Sayegh

People keep saying that both genders are equal, but is it true? Is gender equality applied in our modern generation today? People often talk about how both genders are equal when they are not applying this rule themselves. We can’t live without each other, but does that mean we are equal? What is the true meaning of gender equality?

I believe gender equality is for both genders to be equally treated and thought of and most importantly, not to be compared based on strength and ability because I could mention right now that women are stronger than men in the case since women hold a soul for nine months and give birth to a new spirit to the world.

There shouldn’t be a comparison between men and women. We all have to agree that men are men and women are women and we all are our true selves, but some people belittle that, and end up destroying someone physically and mentally. That is where the bullying in school happens, that’s where the amount of pressure on women increases, that’s where this rule, clearly, doesn’t apply.

Gender equality is important, but not to the extent where we differentiate man’s flaws with that of a woman’s. We should all know that men and woman are the same, not biologically, but mentally. We all have the same functioning of the brain, that is the beauty that unites mankind.

Is the gender equality ‘rule’ applied to our modern generation today? In our modern generation today, youth are likely to understand the reason why we advocate for gender equality is due to working with different races, ages and gender. They understand that with the help of each other and working as a team, they can create something that can benefit them, whether it’s for the help of their community or for their own sake. As technology continues to evolve, little by little, gender equality will evolve with it, as great minds think alike and will come together, despite of their gender, to form something the world will never forget.

We can’t live without each other, but does that mean we are equal? Man and woman have to admit that they both can’t live without each other because both are needed for the fate of their society. Men and women, together, can create something that no individual can which means the weight of holding a spirit has been divided between the two. So no individual has to carry this burden themselves.

In conclusion, the meaning of gender equality is for both genders to be treated and thought of equally, and despite their biological differences, we all have the ability to do what anyone can. I believe that gender equality should be a must, especially in our current generation.
