Colors of the World by Nahla Adel

I’ve seen your tear-struck face

so buddy don’t worry for I’m here for you

I’ve seen you cowering when talking about your race

so child don’t worry for you are who are you

I’ve seen your deepest scar

so friend don’t worry for it is to be healed

I’ve seen you wield a knife to one’s heart

so foe don’t worry for you have steeled your courage

words sharpened with whetstones

as knives are, cut through the heart of an innocent soul

discriminating remarks thrown one after another

begin to have a stronger impact on an individual

just like snowballs get bigger and bigger as they roll down a hill

the wounds get deeper and deeper

little did they know, the world is meant to be colorful

our races are what make us beautiful
